Daily Marketing Tips - Improve Your Marketing Every Day

[Every day I post a free marketing tip in our Growth Marketing Telegram Group. This blog post is a live, unedited record of those tips. To get them asap, make sure to join the discussion on Telegram.]

June 13, 2019: Daily Marketing Tip -> Push notifications are still an effective way to reach people and bring them back to your website. Two providers that are pretty good are https://subscribers.com/ and https://pushcrew.com/. Subscribers is a bit more expensive I believe but looks much better on the page. Pushcrew also works well though.

June 12, 2019: Daily Marketing tip: Live chat is a great way to interact with visitors in real time. Intercom is popular but super expensive. Instead check out Chatra https://chatra.io/ or the free Drift plan https://www.drift.com/

June 11, 2019: It's vital to know if the influencer you are working with is trustworthy. Use Social Blade to check if followers are earned or bought. If the influencer has clearly bought followers think twice about working with them. https://socialblade.com

June 10, 2019: Topical posts perform well on Social Media. Check out this free calendar to know exactly what to celebrate on which day. Hope on the hashtag bandwagon for a nice spike to your engagement rates. https://promo.com/tools/calendar/june?utm_content=header

June 9, 2019: Acquisition funnels are still one of the most effective ways of generating leads. https://outgrow.co/ offer quizzes, assessments and other fun lead magnets which typically work well on social media

June 8, 2019: Live chat is a great way to interact with visitors in real time. Intercom is popular but super expensive. Instead check out Chatra https://chatra.io/ or the free Drift plan https://www.drift.com/

June 7, 2019: marketers (myself included) typically can't code and often find it impossible to create landing pages using WordPress.

Yes there are visual editor plugins that work in theory, but in practice they're awful and slow down the website immeasurably.

Instead i would recommend Webflow. It's a paid tool that allows drag and drop design work on a much more sophisticated level than squarspace or wix.

Definitely worth checking out if your marketing teams are struggling with landing pages

June 6, 2019: Achieving healthy customer acquisition costs for financial products using Facebook is tough. One of the few ways Ive gotten good results for financial services on Facebook is by following this strategy:

Set up a domain for a tool that is highly relevant to your audience (calculator was the one I used but any tool is possible) ->  Add the email capture before the "results" step (so they've done all the work and want to see the result) -> capture email -> Send out dedicated email blasts promoting your service.

June 5, 2019: Daily Marketing tip -> One of the best SEO strategies I've experienced focuses on "xx alternatives". It works by researching popular tools in your niche and writing a blog post comparing alternatives. You can include your own platform/service in this list of course.

For growing exchanges it therefore makes sense to have blog posts like "Coinbase alternatives", "Binance alternatives" or "Kraken alternatives". Ideally list 3-4 platforms with yourself at the top, clearly explaining why it is the best option.

Not only is it much easier to rank for queries like this, but its also hyper targeted to your desired audience. This kind of post is the perfect place to introduce a "bonus" or "free extra" to capture an email address or sign up. Hope this helps :+1:

June 4, 2019: Generating data and tracking campaign results is absolutely crucial for the long-term success of your marketing activities. The first, and most important, step is to use UTM's whenever linking to a landing page. You can find a free UTM builder here https://ga-dev-tools.appspot.com/campaign-url-builder/ or use a pre-configured spreadsheet here.

June 2, 2019: Daily marketing tip -> Getting high quality images for blog posts, social media and landing pages is much easier today than it used to be. Check out https://unsplash.com/ and https://www.pexels.com/ for free images, and https://undraw.co/illustrations for cool illustrations

May 30, 2019: Daily marketing tip -> I've been having quite a lot of fun with video ads on Instagram. I use Promo to get the videos and use Facebook's ad manager to set the targeting. Lookalike audiences seem to work best. https://promo.com/

May 29, 2019: Data driven decision making is crucial in marketing. https://optimize.google.com allows you to A/B test content for free and without coding. Definitely worth checking out to optimize your call to actions, headings and images!

May 26, 2019: Daily marketing tip: When thinking about your SEO strategy, 100% include relevant product reviews in your content plan. Reviews typically have much less competition and can be highly targeted to your chosen audience.

For example, if you run an exchange platform and want to acquire cryptocurrency users, created content around popular wallets and DAPPs. An article called "XX Wallet review" has a very good chance of ranking if you optimize it well

May 25, 2019: Daily marketing tip: Knowing where your visitors come from is absolutely crucial and Google Analytics often fails to provide insight. I've found that the sourcebuster js https://github.com/alexfedoseev/sourcebuster-js works really well in providing granular source data on almost all visitors. Free and definitely worth checking out :+1:

May 24, 2019: Daily marketing tip: I've been really impressed with Email Octopus as an email provider for newsletters. Much cheaper than Mailchimp, Active Campaign, Sendgrid and even Mailjet. The functionality is pretty slick for the price point and the delivery rates are about the same as other providers. Not as cheap as Sendly but way more user friendly and no coding required. Definitely worth checking out if your spending $$$ just to send newsletters https://emailoctopus.com/pricing Hope this is helpful

May 23, 2019: Daily marketing tip, if you're spending money on Hotjar or similar tools, check out https://metrica.yandex.com/. It's free and offers heatmaps, user recordings, advanced segmentation and sophisticated funnels. Of course Yandex is Russian so I suggest being a little wary but definitely worth giving a shot imo

May 22, 2019: If you're running display campaigns on Adwords, highly recommend using the dynamic ads. Google seems to display these at a much higher clip than uploaded banner ads, while also generating lower cpcs. This is a snapshot of one of the campaigns Im currently running

May 21, 2019: Having quite a lot of fun with heap analytics. Provides free tracking and funnel analytics (up to a certain user count). https://heap.io/

May 20, 2019: I've seen much lower cpcs on display campaigns that show responsive ads rather than banner or text ads. If you're running an Adwords campaign showing static banners, definitely create another ad set using only responsive ads.
